Nanny / Family Step-By-Step Process
Before Placement
Initial Email Contact
Send us an email to set up a phone or in-person meeting to discuss your needs and what you are looking for in a nanny.
Phone / In-Person Meeting
We discuss options, fees, and questionnaires. If you are in the Pittsburgh areas, we would prefer to meet in person. We require an online video conferencing (Skype or FaceTime) interview outside of a 3 mile driving range of those areas.
Application and Initial Payment
After you fill out your questionnaire and pay the initial ad-posting fee, the process to find the perfect fit for your family begins
Applicants and Interviews
After a careful selection process, you will begin to receive profiles for different candidates. You then choose whom you would like to meet for an initial interview. Unlike other agencies, Plum Tree won’t charge you for the background checks for the candidate profile. Each candidate profile will contain a driving record, a national criminal background check, and a child abuse clearance. FBI clearances provided for an extra $50.
Employment / Agency Fees / Payroll
Congratulations! You’ve chosen the right fit for your family. Plum Tree helps you navigate the process of becoming an employer, including payroll, liability insurance, and contracts. We have partnered with Homework Solutions to help your transition to become an employer much more straightforward.
Our agency fee is due within seven days of the invoice.
After Placement
- Contract template offered along with contract mediation
- Backup care with advance notice for nanny’s vacation time or date nights
- Conflict mediation
